Rogue River dory

Boats made for the Rogue River were often designed for powering up the river as well as river running the white water sections without power.

The Rogue River has it's own special heritage in the evolution of the drift boat. The river from Merlin, OR. to Agnes, OR. is a wild and senic section that is inexcessable by road. These drift boats carried the heavy loads necessary for multi-day trips and required the bit of extra displacement of a flat spot in the boats bottom and often a little extra length. When an engine was added to the transom that flat spot also aided in keeping the boat on plane and under control .
