April 2, 2008 McKenzie River from Blue River to Vida.

The snow is off the river below McKenzie Bridge.

Fishing is slow to fair above Vida with afternoon hatches on warmer days. Last weeks snow is gone but the river remains cold. March Browns and Blue Winged Olives are hatching from around 1:30pm to 3:00pm. This time of year the action is mid day and often best if there is a bit of overcast sky. If no flies are on the water then target native fish in slower water bellow riffles with nymphs fished low and slow.
