white water drift boats

McKenzie River lore is that well known local boat builder Keith Steele and Rogue River builder Gerry Briggs both had input on the design of these huge double ended white water drift boats.  It's obvious in this photo that controlling the boat has as much to do with being in the right part of the river before you hit the big stuff as it does maintaining control in the foam.  It takes a long and heavy boat to handle this kind of water but rowers still comment about their nimble response on the water.  Visit www.oars.com/grandcanyon/dories.html for their experience with the Grand Canyon and this big boat.
