flat bottomed fishing boats

Drift Boat Bottom Shape

A drift boat is basically pointed on both ends. Perhaps one end has a small transom but the boat bottom is lemon drop shaped. This lemon drop can take on two usable shapes.

Symmetrical where the center of the boat is its widest awhile the front and back of the boat curve at near the same rate.

Asymmetrical Forward; where the widest part of the boat is forward of the centerline.

Advantages of Symmetrical Disadvantages of Asymmetrical
Carry passengers in front and back Carry two passengers in front
Helps position max flair at the oarlocks Positions max flair near the front
