The McKenzie River Drift

Do I have to use Epoxy on my fly fishing drift boat? Yes!

Well... it's your boat so you can do what you want, but it would be foolish to not use epoxy. It's the best thing to happen to boat building since the tree and I can't think of a reason that you would not use a high quality epoxy for gluing all joints and coating the surfaces of your marine plywood. It can be used to replace all joint fasteners removing the posibility of water working into traditional fastners loosened by weather or the occasional bump on a rock. When your boat is complete the epoxy must be coated with ultraviolet protection which can be either transparent or pigmented polyurathane depending on your desire for a bright boat or a more traditional paint and oil look. Epoxy is tough, waterproof, and versital.

We carry the Silver Tip line of System Three epoxies. I've chosen this line because it is specifically made for ease of use and to minimize the ability to make a mistake. The two to one mix ratio does not require as precise measurement as more radical mix ratios and each epoxy is a specially formulated to accomplish each job.

Use the Silver Tip GelMagic epoxy in an easy to use cartridge for all joints and general construction. This photo from the System Three website is a great example of how easy it is to use.

The Silver Tip laminating resin is specially formulated to penetrate deep into the plywood surface, seal pours and lock out moisture. Use it with or without fiberglass cloth on the flat surfaces of your boat.
