What Types of Wood Do You Use In The Drift Boat Kits?
We use only the best quality materials of the appropriate wood types for boat building. A drift boat should be built of wood that is resistant to rot, light weight and holds fasteners well. Plywood panels should be of only the highest quality marine plywood and resistant to impact.
Plywood: our kits contain two price options, either Hydrotek merenti plywood or Sepeele plywood, a true African mahogany. Both are Lloyd's Registry certified to the British standard BS1088 and the finest marine plywood that can be purchased.
Port Orford Cedar: the king of boat building cedars, this specialty wood is lightweight, rot resistant, and tough. Oregonis the home of most of the Port Orford cedar grown on American soil so we can luckily keep this in supply.
White Oak: the bending qualities, high resistance to impact and reasonable weight make this oak the classic boat building material for handrails and rub rails.
